Shared Tour: Loch Lomond National Park & Stirling Castle

Shared Tour: Loch Lomond National Park & Stirling Castle Depart Edinburgh to head towards Stirling. The castle was Scotland's most important medieval stronghold and is set high up on an extinct volcanic rock like Edinburgh Castle. There has been a fortification on the rock since 1000 BC (3000 years ago) as it guards the main route north into the Scottish Highlands. You can visit the Palace of James IV with some of the finest Renaissance architecture in Scotland and also the Great Hall where some of the first Scottish Parliamentary assemblies took place. More recently the castle was used as a barracks by the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
From Stirling we will head into the Highlands and an area known as the Trossachs. Its picturesque beauty holds rugged mountains, forested glens and shimmering lochs. We will make a lunch stop in the heart of the National Park. After lunch we will travel along the scenic road to the banks of Loch Lomond. Here you can get a great view of the loch or have refreshments at a local inn before returning to Edinburgh.
